I’ve tried a few, but I think I have finally found my permanent CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in the DC area. South Mountain Veggies is supurb. No, really. Their online interface is beautiful and easy (let me geek out for a sec), their offerings are huge, their food is local and probably the best part, their prices are incredibly fair given what you get!
Just take a look, I mean, really. For my first delivery, thanks to groupon, we got the medium size bag. Next time I think we will just go with the single bag, as this is a whole lot of food to cook up in a short amount of time.
- 3 Fuji Apples
- 4 Asian Pears
- A bunch of kale
- 2 heads of Romaine Lettuce
- 4 portobello Mushroom Caps
- 3 yellow onions
- 4 Russett Potatoes
- 1/2 pound of spinach
- 2 Acorn squash
- 1 bunch of Broccoli Rapini
Seriously, such a deal. I think I am going to cook up some of the portobello’s tonight and see what other plans I can make. If you are looking for a CSA in the DC/ MD/ VA area, you really need to check out South Mountain Veggies. And if you do, please use my name in the referral box!
